Together Academy: Chef Catering Instructor
TOGETHER ACADEMY is an innovative social enterprise that provides
tailored training and employment opportunities for adults with Down
syndrome. Through our variety of training, pathways programme and
further tailored supports, we will improve the employment prospects of
our young adults.

OUR TOGETHER TRAINING CAFÉ supports our social enterprise as well as
providing delicious food to our customers. This is where the students
will learn the practical elements of the course.
The purpose of this role is to run the culinary operations in our
training café based in Wanderers Rugby Club while supporting Together
Academy students with their employability skills training.

This role will commence in September *
(expected) in Together Academy, Wanderers Rugby Club, Merrion Road,
Dublin 4 with scope for further opportunities in our new Dublin 2
location.
The Chef Catering Instructor will have experience of working within
catering and/or a kitchen and will have a HACCP qualification.
Experience of working within a training environment is also an
advantage.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITY

* Design, update and execute our delicious café menu and catering
options.
* Oversee the cookery operations in our café including ordering,
health and safety paperwork, cleaning and equipment maintenance.
* Support the growth of café revenue through innovative and
efficient practices Integrate elements of our classroom based modules
within the café environment for purposes of the young adults
learning.
* Report on progress and collaborate with colleagues to improve
vocational skills, and preparing for work experience and ultimately
paid employment.
* Encourage, support our students to broaden their life and
practical skills within the remit of the café.
* Liaise with the wider Together Academy team including the Training
staff and Pathways team to ensure the success of each individual
student.
* Other duties as required.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING:

Previous experience in a training environment. Experience working with
a wider team including café managers, baristas and young learners.
Knowledge of the local food scene. An ability to work with a diverse
group of individuals with different support needs across the Down
syndrome community. Strong organisational skills – both in terms of
people and materials Superb customer service. Ability to think outside
the box. Good listening and communication skills.
